Twilight: Eclipse

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Edward and Bella

By Edward to Bella

I’ll be back so soon you won’t have time to miss me. Look after my heart – I’ve left it with you.

I was that boy, who would have gotten down on one knee and endeavored to secure your hand. I would have wanted you for eternity, even when the word didn’t have quite the same connotations.

How could you not love this guy?

Cast: Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Nikki Reed, Ashley Greene, Jackson Rathbone, Kellan Lutz, Edi Gathegi

Remember Me

Once in a Blue Moon (not to be confused with New Moon) a film comes along that knocks me on my arse.  Remember Me is such a film.

~Shelli Carlisle, Living Life…Boomer Style Magazine

Cast: Robert Pattinson, Chris Cooper, Lena Olin, Ruby Jerins, Pierce Brosnan, Emille de Ravin

Revolutionary Road

He said, She said

To have her there was kind of reassuring and nice. To have the three of us (including Kathy Bates) together it was kind of like a neat coming of age party. It’s been 12 years since Titanic. ~Leonardo DeCaprio (On working with Kate Winslet on Revolutionary Road 12 years after Titanic.)

He’s probably the world’s most beautiful looking man [Leonardo DiCaprio], yet he doesn’t think he’s that gorgeous. And to me, he’s just smelly, farty Leo. ~Kate Winslet

Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, Kathy Bates, Michael Shannon, Kathryn  Hann

Righteous Kill

Dr. Prosky: How do you feel when you’ve fired your weapon?

Cast: Queen Latifah, Dakota Fanning, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys, Sophie Okenedo

Seven Pounds

I was attracted to Seven Pounds because there were ideas. There were emotions. There were parts of this character that I was hiding myself from. I took Seven Pounds almost as self-examination — as a self-exploration. ~Will Smith

Cast: Will Smith, Woody Harrelson, Rosario Dawson, Michael Ealy, Barry Pepper

Sex and the City, The Movie

The Raves

It gives you everything you ever loved about the series, and blows it out into super-size cinematic proportions.

~Emily Rems, Premiere

In its cinematic incarnation, Sex and the City has lost none of its bawdiness yet gained a more profound sense of soberness. Parker, especially, who in the last season of the show bordered on insufferable in her affected squeaks and shrieks, is allowed to go to very dark places – to be, in fact, quite unfabulous.

~Kimberley Jones, Austin Chronicle

A movie that taps directly back into the show’s primal appeal, which is the sweet, sad, saucy delight of sharing these women’s company.

~Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly

Cast: Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, Mario Cantone, Chris Noth, David Eigenberg, Evan Handler, Jason Lewis, Michael Bloomberg, Kim Cattrall

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2

Sisterhood Trivia

The final scene of the movie in which the girls jumped off the cliff was requested by Amber, America and Blake. While in Greece they had seen two teenage boys jump off the cliff; the boys were fans and convinced them to do it too, and the girls asked the director that this be a scene in the movie.

Cast: Amber Tamblyn, Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera, Rachel Nichols, Tom Wisdom

Slumdog Millionaire

Seeing this movie on the heels of India’s latest tragedy in present-day Mumbai gave me pause to reflect on not only the senselessness of the terrorists’ motives in killing innocent victims, but also on the senselessness of the poverty that surrounds those same posh 5-star hotels.  I cannot equate the murder of guiltless persons with the destitution of poverty-stricken individuals as portrayed in the film, but there seems to be a paradox about the cruelty humans inflict on one another—in one case deliberately and in the other as a result of being born into the lower echelons of a society. ~Nilda Andrews, Living Life…Boomer Style Magazine

Cast: Dev Patel, Freida Pinto, Madhur Mittal, Anil Kapoor, Ifran Khan, Tanay Chheda, Tanvi Ganesh Lonkar, Ashutosh Lobo Gagiwala, Ayush Mahesh Khedekar, Rubina Ali, Azaruddin Mohammed Ismail

Cast: Ryan Phillippe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Rob Brown, Channing Tatum, Victor Rausk

Street Kings

I was intrigued by the level of violence surrounding the character and the dramatic consequences of that,” explains Keanu Reeves. “He can be viewed as either someone who kills in the name of the law or someone who delivers justice. Dramatically, there’s a high price to pay and I was interested in how it would all play out.”

Cast: Keanu Reeves, Forest Whitaker, Hugh Laurie, Chris Evans, Cedric the Entertainer, Jay Mohr, Terry Crews, Naomie Harris

Memorable Dialogue

Caden Cotard: My father died. They said his body was riddled with cancer and that he didn’t know, he went in because his finger hurt. They said he suffered horribly, and that he called out for me before he died. They said that he said he regretted his life. They said he said a lot of things, too many to recount, and they said it was the longest and the saddest deathbed speech any of them had ever heard.

Cast: Philip Seymour Hoffman, Samantha Morton, Michelle Williams, Catherine Keener, Emily Watson, Dianne Wiest, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Hope Davis, Madeleine Gravis, Tom Noonan

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

Haunting, Touching, Unforgettable

A deeply touching film. The director’s artistry in unfolding a fragment of unbelievable cruelty where the audience member feels he or she is experiencing the same event is a tribute to his understanding of human emotion without being manipulative.  I recommend this movie with the caveat that the twist of fate you will experience will leave its mark on you. ~Nilda Andrews, Living Life…Boomer Style Magazine

Cast: Asa Butterfield, Zac Mattoon O’Brien, Domonkos Nemeth, Henry Kingsmill, Vera Farmiga, David Thewlis

The Dark Knight

I’m not good at future planning. I don’t plan at all. I don’t know what I’m doing tomorrow. I don’t have a day planner and I don’t have a diary. I completely live in the now, not in the past, not in the future.

A Bit of  Trivia

“Real scientists don’t describe an object entering the solar system as ‘notable for the fact that it was not moving in an asteroidal ellipse, but moving at nearly 3*10 to the seventh meters per second’. Fred Cheaver: You are one lucky bastard T.K.

Cast: Rachel McAdams, Tim Robbins, Michael Peña, Molly Hagen, Mark L Young

The Women

The Women: Literally, there are no male characters shown in the whole movie, not even in the wide street and shop shots on background.

Barbara Delacorte: Everything was wonderful, Mary. I must have the name of your caterer.  So yummy.

Mary Haines: Oh, no. I made everything myself. I think people appreciate the personal touch.

Barbara Delacorte: You cooked? Oh, Mary, how could you. What were you thinking? Now we’ll all have to do that.
